MUSG 2015-16 Speaker Series begins with The Golden Gate guardian, Kevin Briggs

Marquette University Student Government and Active Minds is pleased to announce mental health speaker Kevin Briggs as the first speaker in its 2015-16 Speaker Series. Briggs will speak in the AMU Ballroom on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.

Kevin Briggs was a member of the California Highway Patrol for over twenty-three years. During his time patrolling the Golden Gate Bridge, Sargent Briggs has become a buffer between life and death for many that use the bridge as a means for suicide. Briggs has shared empathy and negotiated with several hundred people who are struggling with suicidal thoughts to talk them off the ledge. Due to his refusal to walk away from those struggling, Briggs has saved hundreds of lives.

After retiring in late 2013, Briggs has become a popular nationwide speaker, traveling to share his daring stories to bring awareness of crisis management, suicide prevention, and leadership skills with his company, Private Points.

All students are invited to attend this free MUSG Speaker Series and Active Minds event.
