At its meeting on Monday, Oct. 6, Marquette University Student Government Senate discussed ways to revamp its partnership with the Avenue’s West Association, following a presentation by the Avenue’s West Association Executive Director, Keith Stanley.
Stanley highlighted the diversity of the Avenue’s West business district, which spans from I-43 to Highland Street and from I-94 to 28th Street, including most of the Marquette University. Businesses in the district range from the university to The Rave concert hall to the Ambassador Hotel. According to Stanley, the challenge the Avenue’s West Association faces is taking those assets, attracting more business and making a difference in the community.
Stanley is looking to continue the Marquette’s partnership with the Avenue’s West Association and expand opportunities for student involvement in the community. He plans to work with students to identify what types of community improvements they would support and see those suggestions implemented.
During announcements, Communications Vice President Sarah McClanahan announced that MUSG will be registering voters in the MUSG office from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every business day until Monday, Oct. 13.
