MUSG seeks 2014-15 Financial Vice President

Marquette University Student Government is in search of a hard working, enthusiastic and fiscally responsible individual to assume the role of Financial Vice President for the 2015 fiscal year.

The Financial Vice President serves as the Chief Financial Officer of MUSG and is tasked with overseeing the annual operating budget, the internal financial practices of the organization, communicating with the university comptroller’s office on behalf of MUSG, chairing the MUSG Budget Committee, coordinating the annual audit process, and co-facilitating the Student Organization Funding Process with the Executive Vice President.

The FVP hires and manages two Financial Office Assistants and one Controller who assist the FVP in his/her duties.

A successful candidate for the Financial Vice President position will be an enthusiastic leader with experience managing organizational budgets, effective communication skills, will be forward thinking, and adaptable in order to help lead MUSG during this time of change and transition. The successful candidate will also bring many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, skills, experiences, and personal qualities:

  • A strong and deep understanding of fiscally sound budgeting processes and standard financial practices
  • Proven leadership experience in high school and/or college activities
  • An ability to work under firm deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • An ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher

The Financial Vice President position is applicable for the 3-credit Finance Internship class and receives a stipend determined by the MUSG operating budget. This year’s stipend is $5,000.
