Marquette University Student Government, along with the Office of Student Development, Triangle Fraternity, Marquette Panhellenic Association and Marquette’s Interfraternity Council, are proud to bring speaker Dr. Keith E. Edwards to Marquette’s campus as a part of its 2014-15 Speaker Series. Dr. Edwards will speak in the Weasler Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Keith E. Edwards is a national speaker and trainer on diversity, college men’s issues, sexual assault prevention, social justice education, sustainability, and student affairs leadership. Dr. Edwards works to prevent sexual assault and is a proponent of “men ending rape.” His program is nationally recognized and is considered one of the most theoretically and conceptually grounded presentations on sexual assault in the country. Dr. Edwards’ presentation has demonstrated both long and short-term influences on participants.
Along with speaking with the general student population, Dr. Keith E. Edwards has worked with Greek Life, Residence Life, and Academic Affairs in addition to teaching high school, undergraduate, and graduate courses in diversity and social justice in attempts to end the perpetuation of campus rape culture. Dr. Edwards takes the approach of not blaming either sex for sexual assault and instead looks at the broad focus of what has happened to create this culture.
Dr. Edwards has founded and chaired the ACPAA Commission for Social Justice Educators, is the author of over fifteen articles as well as book chapters, has spoken on more than 60 campuses, and has presented over 70 programs at professional conferences and institutes over the past fifteen years.
