K. Serra to play MUSG Coffeehouse Series

MILWAUKEE (November 6, 2012) – Marquette University Student Government will host female electronic artist K. Serra at its next Coffeehouse Series event on Thursday, November 15 at 8:00 p.m. Opening for K. Serra will be Marquette sophomore, Ben Wagner. K. Serra, known to her friends and family as Rachel Sarah Thomas, has been involved in music since the age of five. Classically trained to sing opera since she was a toddler, Thomas fell in love with electronic music at the University of Michigan where she collaborated with classmates on several electronic tracks. She left the classical world and began exploring electronic music on her own.

During her exploration, Thomas developed her signature style: composing music with nothing but her voice and household objects. K. Serra is her most recent and most personal project. For her first single, Revival, Thomas began multi-tracking to tape, playing each of instruments herself –with the exception of bass and trumpet.

K. Serra’s Coffeehouse Series performance will not be her first in Milwaukee. She performed at the annual Summerfest Music Festival earlier this year. For a taste of the musical treat coming to Marquette, visit her website, kserramusic.com.

The event will be held in the lower level of the AMU. Come out and enjoy free coffee and cookies, as well as performances by a two truly talented individuals.
