DiversiTEA: A screening of Miss Representation

MILWAUKEE (Feb. 29, 2012) – A DiversiTEA event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in Emory Clark Hall 120. The DiversiTEA event will feature a screening of the documentary Miss Representation, which stars Katie Couric, Rosario Dawson and Jane Fonda.

Miss Representation is a documentary that explores the lack of women in positions of power and influence in America. Directed by Jennifer Seibel Newsom, Miss Representation focuses on the media’s incomplete and inaccurate portrayal of what it truly means to be a strong woman in the corporate world.

Light refreshments and tea will be served at the event. Following the movie, the department of women and gender studies will host an open discussion about the media’s portrayal of women.

DiversiTEA is co-sponsored by MUSG, Empowerment, Women in Business, the department of women and gender studies, and the counseling center.
