Hey everybody, welcome to the new Marquette University Student Government website! Hopefully everyone has gotten off to a good start this semester. The Executive Council of MUSG definitely has. For those who don't know the Executive Council consists of the Elections Coordinators, Senior Speaker Coordinator, Student Advocate, and Administrative Assistant. On this page you will be able to find descriptions of each of these positions and if you follow the Staff tab above you will be able to learn more about those who currently fill these offices.

The Elections Coordinators have been working long and hard to prepare for the upcoming Spring Elections. Every Spring MUSG elects new Academic Senators and President and Executive Vice-President. This year's Primary Election is March 6 with the Final Election on March 27. Packets for those interested in these positions will be available in the MUSG office in AMU 133 starting February 1 and are due February 29. Everyone is welcome.

The Senior Speaker coordinator is also busy contacting those nominated for May's Senior Speaker selection. Nominations will close on January 31st at 5pm and those nominees will be notified as that process gets under way.

Our department is responsible for many annual events, including Elections through the Elections Coordinator, nominating Senior Speakers through the Senior Speaker Coordinator, and placing student representatives on University Committees through the Student Advocate position. Other members of this department include the office receptionists and administrative assistant.

Applications are availible to be a member of the All University Committee in the MUSG office.

Position Information:

Administrative Assistant 

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for all oversight of daily office operations, including staffing, supply ordering, and training and development initiatives.  This person also supervises receptionists and assists the Executive Vice-President and other members of the Executive Council as needed. 

Elections Coordinator 

The Elections Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of MUSG’s fall and spring election.  This person provides necessary information to candidates preceding the election and chairs the Elections Committee. 

Receptionists 

The MUSG receptionists are responsible for answering phones, greeting visitors, directing inquiries, sorting mail and other office tasks.  They also assist the Administrative Assistant in any special projects and keep the office welcoming and organized. 

Senior Speaker Coordinator 

The Senior Speaker Coordinator is responsible for supervising the selection process for the student speaker for December and May commencement ceremonies.  This person collects nominations, invites qualified nominees to apply for the position and chairs the Senior Speaker Selection Committee. 

Student Advocate 

The student advocate is responsible for student representation on 20-30 all-university committees, including appointment, training, and information reporting.  This person ensures that each of the student representatives is fulfilling their duties on their respective committees.
